Kings Education Trust Vision and Mission
#ShapingFuturesTogether: Autonomy with a Shared Purpose
Vision (what we want our MAT to achieve over time, the purpose of the organisation):
Across Kings Education Trust, we place significant importance on academic progress and ensuring all children receive a world-class education. However, we know that full primary schooling should include a variety of life-enhancing and enriching experiences – ones that our children will know and remember for years to come. It is our intention to ensure that all of our pupils receive an education that is not only inspiring and memorable, but one that equips them for their future. We believe all children are entitled to benefit from that commitment and, through close collaborations with our partnership schools, we aim to make this a reality.
The principles and guidelines that underlie our vision:
- Achievement and ambition for all is at the heart of everything the Trust aspires to do, with a commitment to engaging with our community and delivering exceptional opportunities for all.
- We will build a MAT with clear core values that will grow strong, sustainable leadership and develop the best teachers to provide pupils with inspiring opportunities and comprehensive roots in learning.
- Where necessary, we will facilitate and support rapid and sustainable school improvement and ensure each school is supported to raise standards.
Mission (how we will achieve the vision):
‘The overarching aim of the Trust is to create academies that are strong learning communities, underpinned by shared values where pupils are successful and happy.’ We do this by shaping futures together and agreeing a shared purpose.
Who we do this for and how:
Each and every member of the trust is welcomed as an equal partner and the communities within the trust are respected for the distinctiveness and individuality they provide.
We believe in allowing each Academy to retain its own unique voice and identity - the Kings Education Trust has been established as a voluntary-aided Multi Academy Trust (MAT) but we are an inclusive Trust and aim to work with schools of all designations. Whilst each Academy develops its own annual development plan, the strategic plan of KET (below) is an integral part of what we aspire to achieve across all our schools.
Values (defining our character and ethos):
The overarching aim of the trust is to create academies that are rich learning communities underpinned by our core values of CARE:
Courage – We are courageous in our conversations and decisions
Aspire – we imagine what is possible and strive to make it a reality
Respect – We are proud to belong to a MAT that is inclusive and our behaviours demonstrate care for others.
Empower – we empower ourselves and others to feel confident, to grow and to develop
How we achieve this:
Developing the individual. The Trust aims to provide an environment where all can flourish and that every individual is nurtured. We believe passionately that education, at every stage is about developing and nurturing the whole child. The environment of the Trust is designed to encourage creativity, emotional and mental resilience, physical excellence and academic achievement so that all of our pupils are ready to take their place in the world as global citizens who are able to make meaningful contributions to society. This entitlement extends to our staff, who are valuable members of our school community and are encouraged to engage with partners beyond the school and undertake CPD, including NPQs.
Working in collaboration. We see collaboration as the key to building a strong and confident Trust, with innovation, sustainability and growth at the heart. All schools are expected to engage with annual CPD events and supported to lead aspects of the Trust’s development, particularly in relation to curriculum development. The sharing of effective practice is encouraged and KET actively supports teachers who wish to, to work across the Trust and beyond in order to develop their experiences and skills and to provide high-quality support and mentoring to other staff where this may be required. A sustainable school improvement structure will guide our practice and the sharing of best practice and deep partnership will be a core expectation of all academies.
Our engagement with local partners is key to how the Trust envisages its growth and we place a strong emphasis on working within our local communities, not only our own academies but with maintained schools and those within other local MATs. As KET grows, our structures and processes will continue to evolve to support and develop the Trust for the benefit of all our pupils, staff and families. The Trust will remain outward-looking and focused on delivering the best possible outcomes for all our pupils.
Raising aspirations for all. Whilst raising aspirations for all our pupils is a key function of the Trust, the trustees and leadership within the Trust have a core moral imperative to ensure that those pupils who are disadvantaged are provided with the best possible opportunities to develop and achieve. We place a high importance on emotional well-being and ensure that all our pupils, irrespective of their start in life, are given the chance to create their own future.
